The fourth degree of humility is "that he hold fast to patience with a silent mind when in this obedience he meets with difficulties and contradictions
and even any kind of injustice,
enduring all without growing weary or running away."
The height of this new level of humility is to bless those who curse you, to give thanks to God for every adversity.
Father Benedict reminds us that we are being made as in the fire of a kiln. Will we retain our shape in the end for which we were made without the fires that burn us?
For this reason, it is best not to grumble, to get out the of habit of doing so, if it has hold on us. In its place, let us instead fill up that negativity with Divine Praises to become more of a man of faith and less of a spoiled child of self-indulgence who whines at the least sacrifice.
