Lectio Divina

"Ignorance of Scriptures is ignorance of Christ." - St. Jerome

“Prayer purifies us, reading instructs us. Both are good when both are possible. If we want to be always in God’s company, we must pray regularly and read regularly. When we pray, we talk to God; when we read, God talks to us. All spiritual growth comes from reading and reflection.” - St. Isidore of Seville

Here, I try to accomplish two things: First, to document my studies of Holy Scripture as a prayerful relationship with God whereby He speaks to me in my own circumstances by personal meditations; and secondly, to bring to bear over 2,000 years of commentary and official Church teaching that comprise in their collectivity the bulwarks of Sacred Tradition as it aligns with the divinely inspired writings of the Holy Bible.   Jointly considered, these represent the sources of authoritative and authentic Christianity.

The Dogmas and Magisterium of the Mother Church over the centuries on the one hand and private mystical engagement with God in relation to His saints (and those who wish to join them) on the other are not two separate realities but jointly comprise God's desire to reconnect with Fallen Humanity.  In this blog, I examine both the personal and the historical as twin realities of God's Providential Will in both big things and small things.
